For carpet that has pet urine damage, we would need to use an enzyme treatment for the bacteria left in the carpet and sometimes pad. This customer had 30 year old carpet, we used a topical enzyme, then we did some hot water steam cleaning to finish it off. For more serious damage, we would use a more powerful enzyme and let it soak in the carpet and pad for about 15 minutes before we clean, this treats the pad and the carpet.
