Cartersville, GA – February 16, 2010 – Aquafil USA has received final certification from UL environment about post industrial and post consumer content on Econyl 75 and Econyl Next, two fiber grade nylon polymers partially made using recycled material.
Econyl 75 features 65% post-industrial recycled content and 5% non-carpet post consumer content.
Econyl Next contains an average of 10% of post-consumer material, mostly coming from used carpets, both broadloom and tiles.
These polymers have been used for approximately six months now at the Cartersville plant to manufacture several million pounds of Solution dyed BCF yarn.
They represent the first tangible step undertaken by the Aquafil group to achieve a real sustainable line of nylon based fibers and they are now third party certified with full disclosure by UL, a leading third party certifier..
