It’s the perfect season to enjoy all sorts of activities in Arizona as the weather is on average in the 70’s. On the weekends our owner, Robert, likes to get outside and recharge. Mountain biking out at the historic Gillespie Dam Bridge is a great way to venture off the beaten path and find freedom roaming in Arlington, AZ. This bridge is a through truss bridge spanning the Gila River in Maricopa County and was completed in 1927. At that time it was one of the longest highway structures in the state of Arizona and was at first the longest steel bridge as well. Definitley makes for a fun day-trip driving through small towns and farmland. If you want to make it a weekend trip then Margie’s Cove Campground is just 17 miles away. This campground has three campsites with picnic tables, steel fire rings and is adjacent to Margies Cove West Trailhead. Margie’s Cove Trail is a great area for mountain biking, expeirenced hikers and horseback riding. Commonly seen wildlife includes desert mule deer, javelina, desert bighorn sheep, coyote, desert tortoise, and numerous varieties of lizards and birds. Did you know that the Sonoran Desert is the hottest in North America and is the only place in the world where Sagaro Cacti grow? Margie’s Cove has thick stands of saguaro to view.
