Many of the best rugs in the world are hand-woven and hand-dyed using Old World techniques. The rug could be a family heirloom, a prized find from a flea market, or a special memento purchased while on vacation. Each is an individual work of art.
Rug cleaning requires specialized equipment and facilities, so we are unable to clean them onsite. Therefore, we provide both pick-up and delivery to your home or business.
Rug Cleaning Process
Before any rug is cleaned, we do the following:
- Identify its type and the dye used in its manufacture
- Determine its age and test it for colorfastness
- Extract the dust, dirt, and dander
- Establish the level of cleaning and care that it requires (for example, does the rug just need a general cleaning, or, is it badly stained or contaminated with pet urine? (Remember, once a dog or cat urinates on a rug, they may return again and again to the area, following the scent)).
Rugs may be cleaned using a rotary shampooer or they may require a gentle hand-wash. All are hung to dry. Each rug is unique and exactly how each is cleaned is handled on a case-by-case basis.
